Usual fees are our current standard fees and are subject to change; your written treatment plan lists exact fees before any work begins. One implant at member pricing saves more than the membership costs.
It is a coupon with a ceiling. And the ceiling was set when a crown cost a hundred dollars.
Dental benefits started in the late 1950s and 1960s as a union perk. When the first widespread plans were written in the early 1970s, they came with an annual maximum of about $1,000 to $1,500, the most the plan would ever pay for you in a year. That figure made sense then. A crown cost a fraction of what it does today.
Fifty years later most plans still cap out at $1,000 to $1,500, sometimes $2,000. Had the cap simply kept pace with inflation it would be roughly $9,000 to $10,000 today. Instead the number stayed put while the cost of care rose with everything else. That is why your plan quietly runs out at the first crown, and why only about three in a hundred people ever reach their maximum: most stop treatment before they get there.
Most PPO plans follow a 100-80-50 pattern: cleanings and checkups at 100%, fillings at around 80%, crowns, root canals and bridges at about 50%, and all of it only after a deductible and only up to the annual maximum. A single crown is enough to reach it.
Then come the rules that decide what "covered" really means. Waiting periods of six to twelve months before major work is paid. Frequency limits that allow one set of X-rays or one cleaning every so many months, whatever your dentist recommends. Alternate benefit clauses that pay for the cheapest option, a metal filling or a metal crown, and leave you the difference for the tooth-coloured one. A missing tooth clause that refuses to replace a tooth you lost before you joined. Pre-authorizations that turn a decision between you and your dentist into a claim review.
And the treatments people actually want, dental implants, Invisalign® and veneers, are usually excluded outright or capped so low the benefit barely registers.
Too much fine print, for too much money.
There is no ceiling. The same 30% applies to a filling and to a full set of implants, from the day you enroll. There is no deductible to meet first, no waiting period, no downgrade to a cheaper material, no claim to be reviewed, and no surprise bill: the member price is on your written treatment plan before you sit down. Your preventive care is included, not counted against a maximum.
Have insurance? We are in network with Delta Dental, Aetna, Cigna, MetLife, Guardian, United Concordia, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Principal and most employer PPO plans, and we maximize your benefits so you pay less. W Smile Club is for patients without dental insurance and cannot be combined with it.

No. W Smile Club is a dental savings membership offered directly by Whiteland Dental. There is no insurance company, no claims, no deductible, no waiting period and no annual maximum. It cannot be combined with insurance, other discounts or promotions.
Two painless cleanings, two checkups, all X-rays taken at your checkups, unlimited emergency visits, after-hours phone triage and priority scheduling, at intervals your dentist recommends. Deep cleaning and periodontal maintenance are treatments and receive the member discount.
Members receive 30% off Whiteland Dental’s standard fees for treatment completed while the membership is active, including Invisalign®, dental implants and cosmetic veneers. The discount is shown on your written treatment plan before any work begins, so you always know what you are paying. It does not apply to separately billed lab, specialist or third-party charges.
$379 a year per member, about $32 a month. Additional family members in the same household join for $349 a year. Each member has their own visits and discount.
Immediately. Membership runs 365 days from enrollment. Included visits must be used within that year; unused visits do not carry over and have no cash value.
The membership fee is due at enrollment. For treatment, eligible members can spread the cost over 6 months at 0% APR through our financing partners Cherry and CareCredit®, on approval. Financing is offered by those lenders, not by the practice.
Your membership continues for its term. Membership fees are non-refundable once an included visit has been used or 14 days have passed, and the discount cannot be combined with insurance.
Most plans still cap what they pay at about $1,000 to $1,500 a year, a figure set in the early 1970s that has never been adjusted for inflation. Adjusted, it would be roughly $9,000 to $10,000 today. That is why a plan tends to run out at the first crown. W Smile Club has no annual maximum: the member discount applies to every treatment, all year.
